hello, good people. hot on the heels of the warm fuzzies show, its time to start thinking about the next good thing….

MATERIALS DEADLINE: JANUARY 30

Does the future of robotics hold the promise of a dream come true to lighten the workload on humanity and provide companionship? Or perhaps the murder and mayhem of Hollywood movies? Leonardo da Vinci sketched plans for a humanoid robot around 1495; in 1942, Isaac Asimov introduced the idea of fictional robots to entertain and befriend us. The idea of a human creation which can independently move around, sense and manipulate its environment, and exhibit intelligent behavior has been around since the Ancient Greeks….and remains a pretty good idea.

Besides, robots are cool and we love them.

If you love robots too, make something good about them and we’ll put it in the gallery for the month of February. Contact us at info@goodpdx.com and we’ll get you a contract and put yer name on the list of good artists for February.

thanks to every body who made it to our grand opening last friday. i was blown away by the turn out and that everybody stuck around for so long in the cold. for those of you who couldn’t make it or want to see the show with out all of the heads and bodies in the way. the gallery will be open tomorrow between twelve noon and five.  if you can’t make it then we will be open thursday evenings from four to eight and then saturday afternoons. we are also willing to open our doors any time by appointment. feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments at scott@goodpdx.com. and thanks again.

it’s finally here. the last coat of paint has been furiously put on (we promise it will be dry before we hang the show!), the initial round of propaganda has been sent out into the world, and now all we have to do is sip some wine and admire the fruits of your labors and ours. and what yummy fruits they are.

one more thing you can do (i know, you’ve done so much already and we’re so very glad for it…) is spread the word! the grand opening of good is friday, december 5th…we’re officially open from 7-10pm on friday, although if you tell us some good jokes and keep us company we may be enticed to stay longer.

and after much deliberation we’ve finally arrived at some gallery hours….so if you can’t come to our opening event, somebody will be around to chat you up and show you some good art on thursdays from 4pm - 8pm and saturdays noon-5pm through december. of course we’re always available by appointment (read: send us an email or give us a ring and somebody will unlock the doors for you) and would love to show you around.

we’re really excited to launch this accessible space for quality work and a good experience. hope you are too.
