me and rude have been working since winter on our small scale concrete olmec heads. the olmecs were the first known culture to be discovered in the americas, pre-dating the aztec , mayan and inca civilizations. the olmec carved over ten feet tall collosal heads out of stone believed to be images of their leaders. the version we’ve created is a little smaller at 20 inches tall and cast out of concrete. we cast them with displacement in the middle witch keeps the weight down to about 160 lbs. witch makes it easy for two people to pick up and move, but difficult for anyone person to walk away with. we are asking $250.00 thru the good gallery and are looking for other retail opportunities we’ve already found homes for a few of them and are taking orders either thru e-mail or good brick and mortor.
in other news, there still is one weekend left to see colleen flanigan’s amazing show”slideways” . her show comes down on sunday afternoon and her tiles are available for pickup this weekend. also the deadline for submissions for “the cutting edge” is this sunday at 6pm. call or e-mail with any questions about this up and coming group show. every thing i’ve seen so far is awesome.
thanks good people. enjoy the summer!

hey every body , summer has come to portland as scheduled right after the forth of july, but in time for the mississippi avenue street fair. the fair keeps growing and growing, i think there are four stages for music and entertainment and vendor booths stretching from skidmoore to freemont. it’s always great to look down mississippi and see it packed with people. the gallery will be open it’s normal hours from noon to seven. we had a great turn out for colleens opening, thanks to everybody who made it . if you didn’t make it i’m putting up some images on the web and it will be up until august first.
august first is also the dead line for delivery of work to be considered for “the cutting edge” our august group show that opens august 6th. please bring work to the gallery during our weekend hours, if you can’t make it when we are open please e-mail me and we can set up a time.
also this weekend will be the introduction of olmec industry’s first product, a 22 inch tall concrete olmec head , to be enjoyed in lawns and gardens every where. you’ll be able to see and order the new olmecs this weekend at the gallery.
it’s going to be an awesome weekend and i look forward to seeing you all at the street fair.

july’s show is colleen flanigan’s “slideways”. colleen received a grant from the regional arts and culture council to make her interactive slider puzzles. the puzzles are made up of many small visual tiles that can be rearranged to create a larger picture. i hope you all can make it to the opening to create your own piece. also since this is fourth of july weekend we will continue our good tradition of fireworks from the roof. it should be a blast, literally.
see you all soon, and remember, when it rains it pours.

hello good people, this first friday we present luke osowski’s “devil in the details”. we hung the show last night and i’m blown away by how much presence and expression luke can get out of his intricate wire pieces. the opening is the fourth starting at seven and going to ten. there is going to be another treat at the opening in the form of delicious glutton free baked goods provided our good friend phebe rossi and tsp sucre.
another good art event this friday takes place over at the red e cafe. they are having a reception for our good friend april coppini. so make an evening of it and check out both shows up here in no-po.
see you friday night.

this is an open call to artists for our august group show “the cutting edge”. the deadline for delivery of materials is sunday august 1st at 6 pm. work will be excepted during gallery hours during the month of july. our hours are noon to seven on saturdays and one to six on sundays. the show will open on friday august 6th and run through the month. let me know if you have any questions. our next group show after “the cutting edge” will be in october with the theme of “good is evil”.
if you haven’t been to the gallery this month you still have this weekend to see nicky kriara’s “articulate”. if you have ever made a mixed tape i think you’ll like her take on them.
good luck getting your sharpening your edges.
