call to artists

hello my good little ghoulies,

i wanted to invite you all to take part in our october show of “things that go bump in he night”. the opening is going to be from seven to ten on friday october second. our theme is designed to scare and enthrall everyone in this autumn time.

artists: if you have some thing you think would be great in this dastardly show,  there is still time to submit some work for “bump”.  the deadline is this sunday the 27th. we’ll need your work in the gallery by six that evening to consider it for the  opening on friday. let me know if you have any questions or conflicts with scheduling.

can you believe that our next show is in september? where have the long days summer gone? well to celebrate the summer  harvest and get ready to store our nuts for winter , the good gallery would like to invite one and all to submit work for our september show called “preserved”. the dead line for submissions is the 30th of august with our opening reception on the first friday of september the fourth. please let me know if your interested . may your harvest be plentiful!

i once saw a cartoon that distilled all art down into the idea that art used to be “look at this!” and with modern art all art became “look at me!”

there’s definitely something compelling about the self-portrait. artistic navel-gazing. a ready and willing model. the chance to cast yourself in the grand tapestry of history. and to have lots and lots of people look at you as a work of art.

to submit your ideas/work for consideration, please send a letter of intent to our inbox. Then get cracking on turning yourself into a work of art.

Found art derives its identity as art from the designation placed upon it by the artist—taking an object and re-imagine it through the lens of art. Is there some precious item kicking around in your closet that you’ve always wanted to turn into a magnificent piece? what about that bird cage you found on the street last week? are those stacks of magazines in the corner calling to you with a siren’s song? make them into something good and we’ll showcase it for you!
